princess-pea

media: watercolor
project goal: In Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale a woman is tested by a prince’s mother to see if she is a “real” princess; fit to marry her son. A pea is placed under twenty mattresses and featherbeds. In the morning the woman says she couldn’t sleep because she was resting on something hard. The prince is happy and they marry since only a “real” princess would be sensitive enough to have felt the pea under so much padding.
